Hi there, I'm the new Wiki Manager for the Knights and Dragons Wiki, taking over from User:Emptylord. I hope everything is running smoothly, but feel free to ask me questions if you have any. My areas of expertise are listed on my profile, along with some examples of things I've done. You can reach me by leaving a message on my wall, on Discord at Moviesign#6611, or by email at Moviesign at fandom.com.
Hey SDMarukokun! I'm Emptylord, and I'm the Fandom Wiki Manager for Knights and Dragons Wiki. I introduced myself on your Boards, but just wanted to drop you a message personally since you're one of the more active editors around here. Basically, if you have any questions relating to the wiki, I hope to be your first point of contact.
Earlier today someone decided it would be "fun" to vandalize a few pages here. So I did the "undo"/"rollback" and reverted back the changes and blocked said person (twice, sigh), but was wondering if you think it would be a good idea to remove the ability for anonymous users to make posts/edits, etc.
The only issue I can see is that it restrict people from anonymously posting their FC/Guild info, and we don't necessarily want that, but if the vandalism continues, is it worth the trouble?
I'm leaning towards not enabling it and just rolling back changes and blocking as needed, but wanted to see what you thought about it.
Unfortunately the feature doesn't seem to have an option to flip it separately for edits and for comments. Otherwise I'd probably be for flipping in for edits only. Oddly enough, 18.104.22.168 doesn't seem to be a residential IP, but some cloud/web server IP (seems to be https://totalserversolutions.com/atlanta-470.php according to a traceroute and whois lookup). 22.214.171.124 also seems to be Total Server Solutions L.L.C. , so if this person keeps trolling like this, it might be worth contacting them to notify them some customer of theirs is abusing their platform to avoid IP bans.
Good points all around (I wish there was a way to remove all edit capabilities except for Friend Code/Guild advertisements -- or even exempting just those pages, perhaps), but I do think the AbuseFilter might help out tremendously, specifically from keeping anyone from removing more than 2000 characters (and most pages within the last year would have at least double that).
Any AbuseFilters would have to be crafted very, very carefully, since shooting yourself in the foot is a high risk... (ugh, reading about such things for hours in the middle of the night isn't very good for my sleep pattern. -_- )
Yeah, let's hold off on doing it for now.. whomever it was that got the "wild hair" to start vandalizing seems to have stopped for now. If it starts becoming a real problem, we can dig into it in detail later. And I'll see what I can learn in the meantime.
Noticing all of the Category edits. I guess I got out of the habit of adding "Armors" to all of them.. seems like you're adding that one in particular quite a lot. Just curious - is that one important for some reason I'm not aware of?
Was checking how far along I am at "gotta catch 'em all" for armors (still lots of DF left to catch for me. :-| ;-; ) so when I bumped into any armors missing their $RARITY_Armors category, I added that plus the armors category. (though since almost everything is armors these days I guess that last bit is not so necesary anymore...)
Ahh, hahah.. Fair enough. Wasn't sure when my phone was going off like mad for a while there, but that makes sense. And yeah, they're all Armors anymore anyway, but I'll start adding that one on to new armors I add in.
I might add some terrible SF+SF fuse results I noted down to the wiki this or next week, after that it will take a while before I have time for my bigger project of expanding/revamping the Pets pages. :-|
Eek.. not sure I want to know what pain you went through with SF+SF fusions. I've had a couple myself, but thankfully only pre-seasonals, so not as big of a deal. But yeah, I was thinking of doing something about the Pets page too, but didn't really know where to start.
Used on my 2 accounts the heroic "eternals" that some got season 10+ results from, got S2 or less and of any of my 20+ preseason/S1/S2 fuses, none went over S2.
Got some plans for pets page, just not the hours to invest in it right now.
Hey SDMarukokun! I'm Jamie from FANDOM's Community Development team! Not sure if we never asked you if you are interested in turning on the Discussions feature for this community, and migrating the Threaded Forums across as well.
In case you are unaware of the feature, Discussions was introduced last year to help communities engage with users and fans. It lives in its own space on the wiki and allows users to interact with other members of the community. It is also mobile friendly and gives mobile users a chance to contribute and engage with the community, and possibly turn them into wiki editors as well. Discussions also links with our FANDOM Apps, which this community has and it allows app users to easily take part in Discussions as well. You can read more about Discussions here.
For more information on migrating forums to Discussions, you can check out this blog over on Community Central that explains everything in detail.
If you have some concerns, Discussions, and Forums can exist side-by-side in case you do not want to migrate just yet. However, eventually all Forums will be migrated over to Discussions and Forums will be sunsetted as a feature, so getting ahead of the curve is never a bad idea.
Feel free to have an open discussion with your community about this, and I'm available for any questions you might have. Have a good one!
FYI, SDMarukokun is only active on this Wiki occasionally. He is the only active Bureaucrat and I'm the only active Admin for some time now. We have a few other contributors that do some work off and on, but it's been mainly just the two of us.
Both is fine by us! Thanks for being open to it. I'll get that ball rolling. I can enable them on here on the wiki, and I'll request that they are enabled on the app. That process will take a little longer.
There is not much forum discussion going on on this wiki. Heck half the forum posts that happen are people necro-ing topic that had been dead/dormant for 2+ years. (those often then get locked by the 2 of us, sometimes with a comment to start a new topic, since the game state that started that topic 2+ years ago is most of the time changed/irrelevent now, so would just result in a bunch of TL;DR-ed confusion if left open...)
Hey, so after Mhoge made an adjustment to the Shadowforged Armor Design/Template (adding the Ascension levels), I decided to do a bit more adjustment to it, perhaps for the better or for the worse. See here:
Smogbound Blade. Not sure if it's "too busy" or not, wanted your input on it.
Okay, thanks. I asked around with a few friends on Line as well to see what they thought, most were "okay" with it also. I'm thinking I might also try to get the Ring/Amulet stats in there as well, perhaps in a separate "box" below it, or at least in a table.
Seems I've just created myself more work now. Hah!
